HS 2501 is salt; 0904 covers pepper and dried or crushed capsicum; 0909 covers cumin, fennel, anise and coriander seed; 0910 covers saffron, thyme, bay and other spices. Oregano is placed in 0910 by some administrations and 1211 by others, so it is marked "confirm". Your broker confirms the line at entry.

Buying notes

Salt has no clock: Salt does not spoil, so it is the one line we stock deep. Sacks and 1 kg packs are usually available from Vancouver inventory without waiting on a container.
Harvest timing for spices: Paprika is harvested and smoked September to October; cumin and fennel are summer crops. New-crop lots reach Vancouver in late autumn. Saffron comes from the October to November harvest and is tinned by December.
Manufacturer formats: Sauce makers, bakeries and processors take 25 kg sacks and 5 kg cartons. Pallet orders of a single SKU are quoted with a volume break. Send the request through the price list form.
Retail formats: Grocers take 250 g flakes, 1 kg fine salt and 50 g saffron tins with bilingual labels for the Canadian shelf. See grocery retail and distribution. Kitchens buy the 5 kg cartons; see restaurants and foodservice.
Lanes: Spices and salt ride as top-up freight on mixed pallets of olive oil and tomatoes. Lane detail on import to Canada and import to the US.
