Retail packaging has to meet the labelling rules of the country where it is sold. We coordinate the artwork with the producer; your customs broker or regulatory consultant signs off on the panel before the first container. In general terms, the items that come up on every project:

Both official languages, Canada

Mandatory label information appears in English and French on prepackaged food sold in Canada. Our Canadian retail SKUs carry bilingual labels; the US versions do not need them.

Net quantity

Declared in metric units on the principal display panel. Volume for oil and passata, weight for tins, salt and spices.

Nutrition panel

Canada and the US use different panel formats and rounding rules. Each retail SKU has a panel prepared for the market it ships to.

Ingredients and allergens

Listed in the order and wording the destination market expects. Single-ingredient products such as salt and olive oil are the simplest case.

Country of origin and lot

Origin stated on the label. Lot and best-before or filling date printed on each unit by the producer.

Private label

Olive oil, salt and passata can carry your brand from one container upward, or one pallet for salt. Artwork approval to first delivery runs about 10 to 12 weeks.
